A Yoga Shala is a ''Place of Yoga''

We're offering you a simple space to develop a sincere Yoga practice. Our shala really is just one room, it's open + light with lot's of plants and quality mats + props. Classes are small in size so that we can create a more personal environment, we want you to feel your best after your practice!

We are Mark and Jessica, practitioners and students of Yoga! Husband, wife and Yoga teachers! We met in India in 2016 and have been together ever since. We strive to live by the values of simplicity, sustainability, spiritual awareness, service and community. We decided to open Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Shala out of the desire to be together, to work together and to have more balance in our daily lives; to maintain a healthy daily Yoga practice and routine

At Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Shala we aspire to keep our classes non-dogmatic and traditional. Based on the teachings of Krishnamacharya (the father of modern day Yoga) we aspire to teach what is appropriate for the individual. We prefer to stick to relatively small groups (max. 12 students per class) as we believe students deserve personal attention in order to establish a solid foundation upon which to build up on. Personal attention is something which is difficult to give in larger groups and we want everyone to get it! Our mission is to provide a comfortable environment in which to give you the tools to create an effective and lasting approach to improvement and maintenance of the mind and body

We truly love and believe in the Ashtanga Yoga practice. We teach it with respect to the teachings and tradition as well as with respect to the physical body, mindset and capabilities of the student. We believe a healthy asana practice is a balance between flexibility, alignment and strength, your asana practice should make your mind clear and stable. The traditional way of practicing Ashtanga Yoga is six days a week in a class setting called 'Mysore Style' This gives you the chance to practice the sequence at your own pace, with the assistance and guidance of a teacher who can help each student indvidually. Our Mysore program (led by Mark) is small, light and intimate, you'll find our doors open at 06.15 and you have enough time to practice until 09.30. We offer the full primary series led on Sundays at 09.30, usually followed with enough time for discussion and tea! Our other led classes (taught by Jessica) are intended to familiarize you with the sequence and the basics of the practice. You'll find Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra on our schedule too!
